God is good, no matter what happens

Had a visit to the doctor last Friday. The underlying problem is a long standing one, but it is getting worse. I may need to have more surgery which may not work or might make things worse. And on top of that I also have breathing problems related to my condition.

All in all a situation for worry and tears and what ever else.

Not so! It is for me a time of faith and rest in God. I know that many, many people are praying for me. I know that God is good and that He loves me.

So when I am in pain at night and sing songs speaking of the goodness of God, my faith is lifted, my spirit and heart rejoice in Him.

The apostle Paul and many others found this, I know I am finding it. Contentment with joy, no matter what the circumstances.

God is good to me,
O what love I see,
Jesus as a Lamb was slain.

He delivered me,
Cleansed and set me free,
Lord of all, He rose again.

Now I live,
Yet not I,
Jesus is alive in me.

Sending the Spirit’s flame,
Showers of latter rain,
God has poured His love on me.

My times are in His hands, I can rest secure no matter what happens.

Blessings to you all

Bread, fruit and praise

I’m reading a book at the moment called ‘The Practice of Biblical Meditation’ by Campbell McAlpine. The chapter I have just finished talks about us being Bethlehemites.

The word Bethlehem means house of bread. We are to be children of this house, feeding on the sure word of God, the bread of heaven.

Another name for Behlehem was Ephratah. This word means fruitful. We are called to be fruitful children, showing forth love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance and faith. And we are called to share this fruit with others so they to can be fruit-bearers and children of the house of bread.

And finally, Bethlehem is in Judah,  and Judah means praise. Our lives are to be filled with praise to God and of God.

Children of the house of bread, feeding on God’s word the bread of heaven, bearing fruit and praising God.

Will you join me in being a child of this house?

Church was great

Hi all! It is a beautifully cool and rainy morning here. Time is 6:50am on Monday 30th March. For some obscure reason I was just about to type September.

Church yesterday was great. All about the love of God towards us and how we are called to ‘Behold the Lamb’ who takes away the sin of the world. It is in Him we find our peace and life, in the midst of this world which seems to be falling apart around us. Many are hurting and in need of prayer and we can come to Him and pray for them.

Can you hear His still small voice calling to you? Even this still small voice does not speak lightly and we must take heed.

But this only takes us to a place of love and peace and rest. Even when difficult decisions must be made.

Did you know that as He prays for us we can join Him and pray for others? As He poured out Himself for us so we are called to pour out ourselves in prayer for others.

All part of finding peace and rest and love in Him who is our Peace and Rest and Who is Himself Love.

Blessings

Trish
